Operational retirement provision
In the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, those lawful regulations are recorded that are valid for operational retirement provision schemes. Well-known operational retirement provision schemes are, for instance, cash balance plans or 401(k) plans. Generally, in American operational retirement provision, one distinguishes schemes that promise the employee previously determined benefits, and those where the amount of the pension is determined by the interest rate of the capital in the pension fund, which is dependant of the market. Both types also exist in Germany. Even though operational retirement provision has played a much bigger part in the US than it has in the FRG until now, many reserves, including operational retirement provision, are turned into more or less risky investments. There is a chance that lays in the gain of high returns, yet a risk that lays in the loss of considerable parts of the pension funds.
